Money Talks but is it talking to you? The recent debates over the minimum wage spoke volumes to me. I calculated several wages and to afford a 2 bedroom apartment in a nice neighborhood with a car I need to make at least $11.00 per hour. The average rent is 910.00 for a 2 bedroom apartment and you would need to make at minimum 2 times the rent to be eligible, for a car you would need to make $1500.00 per month for a buy here pay here car dealership. Lets run the numbers:

Hourly wage *40 hours=____ multiply that by 52 weeks in the year and divide that by 12 months to get your monthly salary. Are you able to afford yourself?

$7.25*40=$290*52=$15,080/12= monthly $1256.00

$8.00*40=$320*52=$16,640/12= monthly $1386.00

$9.00*40=$360*52=$18,720/12= monthly $1560.00

This is before Taxes and Insurance and its still not enough.
